The Colleton County School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Kayla Scovell as principal of Black Street Early Childhood Center.
Mrs. Scovell currently serves as Assistant Principal at Cottageville Elementary School, where she oversees MTSS processes, supports instructional improvement, facilitates IEP meetings, ensures IDEA compliance, and collaborates with staff, families, and district leaders to promote student success.
Prior to becoming assistant principal, Mrs. Scovell served as an art educator and school leader at Cottageville Elementary School and previously taught in Orangeburg County. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to instructional excellence, student achievement, and positive school culture.
Mrs. Scovell holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from The Citadel, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lander University, and bachelor's degrees in Visual Arts and Social Work.
