Following an Executive Session on Monday, December 1st, the Colleton County Board of Trustees voted 6-1 on three finalists for Superintendent. Eighteen candidates initially applied for the position. Prior to naming the three finalists, the Board of Trustees interviewed six candidates between November 10th and 11th. The three finalists are as follows:

 

Raymond Aldredge

Mr. Raymond “Tripp” Aldredge, III of Hanahan, SC, has served twenty-seven years in education.  He began his career as a band director in North Carolina before becoming a high school assistant principal and a middle and high principal. Mr. Aldredge has been the high school principal at Fort Dorchester High School in Dorchester 2 for the past seven years. 

George Kiernan

Mr. George Kiernan of Lexington, SC, has spent thirty years in education. He currently serves as the Chief of Operations in Calhoun County Public Schools. Prior to this position, Mr. Kiernan served as an assistant principal, principal and Chief of Human Resources in Calhoun County Public Schools. He began his career as a history teacher in North Carolina.

 Will Pickens

Dr. Will Pickens of Chicago, Illinois, is currently the Deputy Chief of Schools (South Side) in Chicago Public Schools. During his eighteen-year career, he has served as Chief of Administrative Services/Deputy Superintendent (Chester County School District, SC), principal, elementary and secondary guidance counselor, and a Title 1 reading teacher. 

Mr. Glenn Nixon, Board Chair, stated that the Board of Trustees is excited about the finalists and looks forward to interviewing them on Monday, December 8, 2025.
