On the Move

On Monday, November 3, 2025, the SC Department of Education released school report cards for all schools and districts in South Carolina. Every elementary school in the Colleton County School District, and Colleton County Middle School, received an Average Rating for the first time in our district’s history. Although Colleton County High School did not move to the next level, the school maintained its Below Average Rating.

According to the SC Accountability Manual, an Average school meets the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate. The State Department of Education uses various indicators to calculate School Report Card ratings, including Student Achievement on State Assessments, Student Progress, Graduation Rate, College and Career Readiness, and School Climate.

Northside Elementary School was 3.5 points from a Good Rating and increased by 8 points from the prior year. There were increases of 7 points by Colleton County Middle School and 5 points by Bells Elementary and Cottageville Elementary.

Superintendent Williams stated,The academic success of our school district is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our teachers, school and district leaders, staff, students, and families. Colleton County School District remains committed to making our vision, mission, and goals a reality. We are preparing our students to graduate with a 21st-century education to be globally competitive for their chosen college and/or career path.  In Colleton, ‘It’s All About the Kids – The Time is Now!’”

Historically, this is the first time that the school district has achieved six (6) Average Ratings and no Unsatisfactory Ratings. The school district acknowledges that they still have hard work ahead of them but they are up for the challenge!
