The South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessment (SCREADY) program is a statewide assessment in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades three through eight. Additionally, students in grades four and six participate in the Science SCREADY assessment.
All students are required to participate in SCREADY at the student's enrolled grade, except students who participate in alternate assessments. The state department provides various resources on its website using the following link: https://ed.sc.gov/tests/assessment-information/student-and-parent-resources/.
Districts are required to administer SCREADY within the last twenty school days in the 2025-2026 school year. For Colleton County School District, we have designated the following schedule:
Students are reminded that state law strictly prohibits possession of any electronic devices during state testing. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers (such as Fitbits), and smart glasses with imaging or Bluetooth capabilities.
Before testing begins, students will be required to power off all devices, label them using a sticky note provided by the teacher, and place them in a designated container at the front of the classroom.
Failure to follow these procedures will result in school-level disciplinary action, which may include suspension and/or test invalidation (no score). Additionally, the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) may refer violations to law enforcement for further investigation.
Student results will be available upon return to school next Fall. All students will be provided breakfast and lunch during this assessment period. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Colleton County Director of Federal Programs, Assessment & Accountability, Brandi Boseman, at 843-782-4510.
