The student recognitions for going above and beyond included the following: BES - Kailey Warren, BSECC - Alexander "Moises" Gomez Morales, FHE - Kyndel Jenkins, NES - Raelynn Molter, TCTC - Trent Phoenix and CALC - Melissa Ortiz Bartolo.
Ashton Walker was selected from Region 1 as a recipient of a 3rd place scholarship from the South Carolina Association of Title I Administrators (SCATA) in the amount of $1000.
Caira Frasier attends Forest Hills Elementary and was recognized for achieving a perfect score of the 2025 SC READY assessment in English Language Arts.
The Colleton County Band of Blue held several recognitions. The Winter Percussion was awarded the GOLD MEDAL with a score of 83.675 at the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association Winter Percussion Championships. Colleton ranked 1st in their round of seven and 2nd overall out of 14 high school drumlines from North and South Carolina. The staff included Mr. Clay Blackwood, Taylor Fussell, Anthony Crimely, George Ritchie and Princeton Brooks. The Jazz and Concert Bands earned straight Superior Ratings with Distinction from the SCBDA, and three Band of Blue members earned prestigious Region Band Honors.
The Coastal Mental Health team was recognized for contributions and hard work in our school district. That team consisted of Angie Salley, Andrea Miley, Jill Ballew, Maureen Holmes and Renee Jamison.




The following employees received recognition for going above and beyond: Bells - Andrea Brown (Professional School Counselor), Black Street Early Childhood Center - Tracy Colleton Glover (Assistant Principal/ Reading Interventionist), Cottageville Elementary - Amber Brown (Kindergarten Teacher Assistant), Forest Hills Elementary - Brittany Shider (Professional School Counselor), Hendersonville - Elizabeth Varn (Professional School Counselor), Colleton County High School - Heather Mushrush (Teacher), Thunderbolt Career & Technology Center - Michael Swearingen (Building Construction Teacher).
Recognitions were also given to School Counselors with thanks for dedication, professionalism, and unwavering belief in the potential of our students. Colleton County Middle School SIC (School Improvement Council) has been selected to receive the 2026 SIC Report to Parents Award of Merit. Eddie Peeples and Carolyn Anderson were recognized for their efforts in this achievement. Tangela Green was recognized for achieving district-wide compliance with SIC requirements for the 2025-2026 school year. 100% of schools in Colleton County School District met all reporting deadlines and statutory requirements.
Other recognitions included the team who make up GEAR UP and VOORHEES UNIVERSITY: Sonya Stephens, Wayne Bennett, Tiffany Leaf and Danesha Vickers. Mrs.Gale Kidd (Transition Specialist) was also recognized for the going above and beyond in her duties as well.

Event name: The Play That Goes Wrong
Description: The Play That Goes Wrong is a chaotic "show-within-a-show" comedy about the inept Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society attempting to stage a 1920s murder mystery, The Murder at Haversham Manor. As opening night progresses, the amateur actors encounter hilarious, disastrous mishaps, including collapsing sets, forgotten lines, disappearing props, and injuries, forcing them to struggle through to the final curtain.
Venue: Colleton County High School Performing Arts Center
Dates: Friday, April 17th 7pm-9pm and Saturday, April 18th 7pm - 9pm
Tickets: FREE (Donations welcome)
Performance includes: A ChatGPT generated 10 minute play entitled "The Secret," four Shakespearean monologues, and The Play That Goes Wrong.
