    Colleton County residents, teachers, Colleton County School District officials and a representative from Colleton County Council were on hand to greet CCSD Superintendent Dr. Vallerie Cave and her family during her Community Reception event on Sunday, June 27.

    The reception featured speeches from CCSD Interim Superintendent John Tindal and Colleton County School Board Chair Sharon Witkin welcoming Dr. Cave to the Colleton community. Dr. Cave also spoke during the reception, thanking all of the attendees present for visiting with her and reiterating her drive to ensure the success of Colleton County Students.

    About Vallerie Cave

    Dr. Cave has over thirty years of education experience and has degrees from Baptist College, the University of South Carolina and Walden University. She has worked as a teacher, principal and in multiple director-level positions in districts across South Carolina and Georgia.

    Her most recent position was Associate Superintendent for K-12 School Transformation and Innovation for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. During her tenure as Associate Superintendent, over 80 percent of her schools have been removed from the state underperforming list as a result of increasing student achievement.

    In addition to her service as an educator, she has served as Vice President for Business Development at the Alabama-based Edutone Corporation and as Director of Consulting Services with the Alabama-based Information Transport Solutions.
