CCSD Office of Curriculum and Instruction Announces School and District Spelling Bee Winners

The Colleton County School District Spelling Bee was held on February 9, 2021 via a virtual online test. 

All CCSD elementary schools and Colleton County Middle School held school spelling bees throughout the Fall of 2020, and the winners of these individual school competitions were able to compete in the District Spelling Bee.

The school winners that competed in the District Spelling Bee are listed below:

Bells Elementary:   
David Bernache, 5th grade
Isabella Rentz, 5th grade

Cottageville Elementary:
Gracie Riley, 5th grade
Kylie Staton, 5th grade
Alicia Guerra, 5th grade

Forest Hills Elementary:
Peyton Nettles, 5th grade
Cadyn Bergen, 5th grade
Taylor Scott, 5th grade

Hendersonville Elementary:
Aniyah Kirkland, 5th grade
Hope Foster, 5th grade
Vernon Gilbert, 5th grade

Northside Elementary:
Zoey Bernesto, 5th grade
Gracie Pearson, 5th grade
Evan Anderson, 5th grade

Colleton County Middle School:
Aaliyah Jaramillo, 7th grade
Brantley Lyons, 8th grade
Savannah Norris, 7th grade

We would like to congratulate each of our school winners!

During the District Spelling Bee, there was a tie between Gracie Pearson of Northside Elementary and Peyton Nettles of Forest Hills Elementary School. A tie-breaker test was scheduled for February 16, 2021. The winner of the Colleton County School District Spelling Bee was Gracie Pearson of Northside Elementary.

Miss Pearson will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held on March 25, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. and hosted by the Post and Courier newspaper. The location of the spelling bee will be announced at a later date.
