Sixth grade Colleton County Middle School student Laila Moore was named champion of the 2022 Colleton County School District Spelling Bee on February 1, winning the event by correctly spelling the word “gimmick.”
Laila, the daughter of Kyle and Melanie Moore, will now travel to the Spellbound! Spelling Bee competition, which will be held on March 24 North Charleston Athletics Center to compete with over thirty other top spellers from across the Lowcountry.
