Ms. Jerolyn Murray, Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, is a native of Varnville, South Carolina and a graduate of Wade Hampton High School. She attended Georgia Southern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management. After being employed for a number of years as a corporate trainer in Hilton Head Island, Ms. Murray made a career change and began her journey as an educator. Returning to the school district where she attended school, Ms. Murray started teaching middle school students., and earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from AIU Atlanta. After teaching Business Education courses including Marketing, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Advertising and other CTE courses, Ms. Murray joined Cougar New Tech as a facilitator for 10th grade students. Ms. Murray has served as a PLC Lead, Lead Teacher and PBL Training for teachers at Colleton County High School for five years prior to accepting the position of Curriculum and Instruction Specialist at the District Office.
As the Curriculum & Instruction Specialist for Colleton County School District, Ms. Murray is an advocate for equitable learning opportunities for all students by providing coaching and instructional support for teachers and school instructional leaders. She also plays a key role in identifying and designing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff of the district and serves as the district level New Tech leader and provides technical support for Echo, the New Tech Learning Management System (LMS). Ms. Murray believes that providing learning opportunities infused with rigor and relevance are the key to dispelling the myth that some kids are 'just not cut out for school'. Her commitment to developing lifelong learners is one that she takes pride in and plans to continue her contribution to a better society in this way.
