Purpose of Title I Parent Center

Research shows that greater family involvement in children’s

learning is a critical link to achieving a high quality education.

The Title I staff will encourage and support efforts by families

to take a more active role in their children’s learning.

The Title I staff will also promote and help to establish

partnerships that will increase parental involvement and

participation in promoting social, emotional, and academic

growth of children as outlined in the objectives of National

Education Goal 8: Parental Involvement – Joint efforts will be

made  to assure that all state and local objectives be met and

the local Title I policy be complied with.

Parent Resource Centers

The Title I Resource Centers, which are located at all Title I schools,

provide parents the opportunity to access laptops, information,

programs, activities and other resources that will enable them to

become more effective and knowledgeable with federal, state, and

local educational programs and mandates.

The center is designed to provide parents with learning tools that

will enable them to work more effectively with their children at home.

Teachers and students are also invited to take advantage of the

center’s resources. The goal of the Title I Parent Resource Centers is

to bring the home and school together by providing parents with a

variety of materials, equipment, and information that will be useful in

helping their children achieve academic success.

Please visit the Resource Center at your child’s school to review

The programs and materials available to you.

NCLB – No Child Left Behind

The importance is about commitment to all children, and of

course, it’s one that we absolutely must honor if we’re going to

continue to thrive as the great nation that we are.

-         Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings

NCLB works according to the following common sense principles:

  • Holding schools accountable for results;
  • Giving states and districts flexibility in how they spend

federal money;

  • Using scientific research to guide classroom practice; and
  • Involving parents by giving them information and choices

about their child’s education
