The school library media center functions as a vital instrument as well as a basic requirement for quality education by enriching all parts of the educational process.  It reflects and supports the philosophy of the school; it shares and implements Colleton Middle School’s aims and objectives.

 

 

S.T.A.R. READER(Standardized Test for Assessment of Reading)-. Provides individual reading assessments and diagnostic information for students.

DISCUS (Digital Information for South Carolina Users) - Provide Internet accessible resources to public schools, selected private schools, public libraries, and colleges with reliable, up-to-date resources on a wide variety of subjects for all age groups.

 SCOIS (South Carolina Occupational Information System) - Delivers up-to-date career, educational, and occupational information quickly and efficiently.




Accelerated Reader - Is a computerized program that helps promote reading at home and in the classroom. Students can read a book and individually take a test on the computer.

OPAC (On-line Public Access Computer) - Is a computer that provides access to locate resources available in the library.

Knowitall.org -is A free online collection of resources designed for classroom use. This educational web portal contains interactive sites, simulations, image collections, virtual field trips and streaming video that support and provide quality inquiry-based experiences for students on the Internet.

The Big 6- (Information Problem-Solving Model)- is an approach to teaching information and technology skills.
