A Message From
the Principal’s Desk
Soaring
to new heights has become the new motto at Forest Circle
Middle School as the
2006-2007 school year has been one of improvements and
change. Under the leadership of a new
principal, Forest
Circle Middle
School has made remarkable strides in the areas
of attendance, academics, discipline, and overall appearance.
Forest Circle
Middle School has an improved climate evident
in the reduction of discipline referrals.
Exterior improvements such as replaced windows, updated school signs,
and extensive landscaping have added to the enhancement of the school’s
appearance and atmosphere.
To
improve our performance on the Palmetto Achievement Challenge test, our
teachers have implemented the Anderson V Curriculum that is aligned with the
state standards. A fully functioning
science lab with a full time lab assistant, and many new science resources have
been acquired that will benefit our students’ achievement in science. A full time math coach has also been acquired
to help our math department execute better practice strategies into the
classrooms. To further enable teachers
to monitor student achievement throughout the year on state standards, the
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing was also implemented this year.
As a
result of these implementations, Forest
Circle Middle
School’s Academic Team won the District’s regular
season championship, and our 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade math teams won 1st place in the 1st annual district
wide middle school math competition.
Efforts
have also been made to increase parental involvement at Forest Circle
Middle School. Parent Nights that include activities to
involve the students and their parents were held throughout the year. The school’s website was redesigned, updated
and monitored. The district’s system of
keeping parent’s aware of their children’s grades, discipline, and attendance, InTouch, was also better monitored with a full time
registrar on campus.
The
parents, students, faculty and staff of Forest Circle
Middle School are proud
of the notable changes and look forward to an even better next year!
