South Carolina Reading First (SCRF), which is being implemented at BSE, focuses on placing proven methods of reading instruction in classrooms. Through SCRF, districts and schools will receive support to use scientifically based reading research in classrooms so that all children learn to read well by the end of third grade. Funds will
support professional development to ensure that all teachers have the skills they need to teach reading successfully and effectively to all students. In addition, SCRF will provide assistance to districts in helping classroom teachers identify and eliminate reading barriers facing their students.

  2. Vocabulary

  3. Fluency

  4. Phonemic Awareness
